It’s time to experience County Durham's vibrant food scene…

At the Farm

Make the most of your remote escape by bringing with you ingredients to prepare ahead of your stay. You are welcome to bring cool box with you should you have one, or feel free to use either a zeer pot or cool box provided to keep perishables cool during your stay. Don’t forget milk for hot drinks and of course, those marshmallows if weather permits you to light the firepit!

Local Restaurants

Sedgefield is well and truly on the map when it comes to authentic, award-winning restaurant scene. Choice is plentiful. To name but a few…

The four star ‘Impeccable Pig’ a hotel, restaurant and pub with oodles of character serving delicious food and impeccable wine – the list is extensive and includes a superb selection of local real ales.

The Pickled Parson supports British farmers and local artisan producers. The name makes reference to the folklore tale of the local clergyman whom was said to have been preserved in salt after his death by his wife so she could collect his yearly donations from the town’s people!

Local Produce

If you’d rather cook or take some treats home with you, there’s plenty of places to shop for local goodies, with either local artisanal stores in the village, or a larger supermarket.

Check out the farmer’s market held on the first Sunday of each month, where a whole host of fresh food, drink and other produce is available from local suppliers.

Enjoy our very own ‘Hopper House Brew Farm’ ales, sustainably brewed, bottled and powered by solar on our sister farm just a couple of fields north of Crowdy Hall. On site is a former milking parlour turned tap room bar, regularly open to the public. Ask us to find out more.

Local Pubs

The well-established ‘Dun Cow Inn’ in Sedgefield Village, newly-refurbished ‘Corner House’ and ‘The Impeccable Pig’ all offer a fine selection of drinks from artisanal gins through to local ales.

Should you want to stock up on bottles of Hopper House IPA, golden ale, red ale, or stout at the cabin, just let us know and we can arrange a well stocked fridge box upon arrival.
