Frequently Asked Questions

While we are always on hand to answer specific questions, we have tried to answer some of those frequently asked below.

If you still have something you would like to ask, please contact [email protected].

What is off-grid?

Off-grid glamping means that the site is not connected to the national services such as electricity, drains, gas etc. To minimise our carbon footprint the site is self-contained. Guest accommodation have 12volt lighting and running showers and incinerator toilet, this is key to our off grid ethos and development into our bespoke pods hand built by us.

Can I charge my phone?

We encourage our guests to switch off all devices but we have incorporated standard USB ports inside your cabins. We have a selection of books, games, etc that guests are welcome to enjoy. Feel free to leave your devices in the box to enjoy a deeper escape from the everyday!

Which cooking utensils are provided?

All of our holiday accommodation includes essential cooking utensils, this consists of a frying pan, saucepan, spatulas and whistle kettle. These can be used on the two-burner gas hob provided. We also supply a corkscrew, cooking knives and other essentials.

How do I book with a voucher?

If you have been given one of our gift vouchers the simplest way to book is to contact us directly to tell us you have a voucher and let us know the accommodation and dates you wish to join us.

What is included on arrival?

All of our cabins comes complete with ground coffee, teabags, sugar. Chilled items can be kept in either a cool box or zeer pot, whichever is provided. You are welcome to bring your own cool box and/or freezer packs should you wish. In the Bathroom Toilet paper will be supplied for the duration of your stay, botanical local supplied soap, shampoo, conditioner & bodywash. Bespoke crockery is supplied, including cutlery and a whistle kettle. Salt, pepper and olive oil are also provided.

What time is check-in on-site?

On the day of your arrival guests are welcome to arrive from 3pm onwards, please let us know 2 days before your planned stay with estimated arrival time so we can ensure your cabin is ready for you.

What do we do on arrival?

On arrival, using your access code, please enter through the black main front gate, which is the first right turn beyond Foxton Kennels. Please drive carefully as the drive to the parking zone can be bumpy and muddy when wet. Please ensure gates are left as you found them. Crowdy Hall is also listed on many maps as West House Farm. Be mindful it is a working farm with large farm vehicles often on site, so take care when on-site.

Is there a fridge in the cabin?

Our cabins have a cool box or zeer pot, a cooling device used widely across the world that requires no power, just water. A layer of wet sand that requires watering every so often, sits between two terracotta pots. Produce inside can be kept cool as the airflow around the pot evaporates the water which in turn maintains a cool temperature inside. Be mindful storage space is limited as the pot is approx 30cm diameter and 40cm tall. As we are off-grid there is no means of freezing anything here. You are welcome to bring pre frozen freezer packs with you if you have some.

When is “low season”?

Seasonal demand has an impact on nightly rates and minimum stay policy. This will fluctuate accordingly through the year.

Is all of the accommodation next to each other?

Our bespoke cabins are all positioned in secluded locations, with each having its own private west-facing view, across rolling countryside. Each cabin is positioned far enough away from each other that you feel like you are completely on your own amongst nature.

Are children allowed at Crowdy Hall?

Our cabins can only accommodate 2 people, however subject to availability, there is the option to block book cabins. Pipistrelle, our micro cabin is located next to Cinnabar Nest, a larger cabin. These can offer two couples or a family of four happy to share two doubles all travelling together.

Can we bring our own gazebo/wind break etc?

Due to fire regulations we are required to have as much clear space between accommodations as possible, as such we are unable to allow additional items on site.

Can we decorate our cabin?

We can’t promise to accommodate everything due to seasonal demand and the number of change overs, please ask about decorations when booking for special occasions.

Can we bring our own electric kettle, hair-dryer, hair straighteners, coffee machine?

Crowdy Hall is an off grid experience so we do want to promote this as much as possible. There is a whistle kettle, and cafetière for your tea and coffee needs. There are no 3 pin plugs, only standard USB points, so double check your cables when packing. Pre charge what you intend to bring and if you are bringing a laptop, we recommend downloading what you intend to watch before you arrive. To get the most out of your stay, we encourage you to go analogue and gift yourself a break from the tech, once you’ve read and viewed all the welcome content and recorded your content from the ‘gram of course 😉
